Nation of Islam told to listen to Rutherford?
by blondie inthe nation of islam began in 1930 with the arrival of wallace dodd fard to the black ghetto of detroit.
to the black underclass, fard presented himself as a merchant allegedly from the holy city of mecca.
he sold silks, hats, and other artifacts allegedly imported from his homeland, though elijah muhammad once stated that fard was not a silk peddler but a tailor of custom-made clothes.

Here are some excerpts from the Islamic Invasion by Robert Morey: Early life Elijah Muhammad was not always known by that name. He was born on October 10, 1879 under the name of Elijah Poole…….. Elijah’s father was a Baptist pastor who sought to raise his children in a Christian faith. A Fateful Meeting After moving from his native state of Georgia to Detroit, Michigan in 1931, Elijah Poole came under the influence of a colorful religious teacher by the name of Wallace D. Fard. Wallace D. Fard Not much is know about Fard except that he was a peddler of “African” who claimed to be a brother from the East. Some black Muslims claim that he was born in Mecca but they have never produced any documentation to prove this. Seeing to give his followers an African Identity and pride, he urged them to renounce there birth names and to adopt Muslim names such Muhammad…………….. The Watchtower and Islam The source of much of what Fard had to say about the Christian Church and its doctrines came from the teachings of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society…. The Watchtower’s denial of the Trinity and its reduction of Jesus to mere humanity laid the foundation for Fard to introduce his unique brand of Islam. Going from house to house using Watchtower literature Fare tore down his black followers’ faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The White Man’s Religion Having accomplished the first part of his task, he introduced Islam as the next logical step to get away from Christianity, which he mocked as ‘the white man’s religion.” Of course, since Fard was himself a white man, this would lead one to conclude that the Nation of Islam was just another “white man’s religion” also. It is interesting that black Muslims today are following the religion of a white man whom, like in the days of slavery, they call him Maser Fard Muhammad” Black Racism Fard taught that the white race was a “devil” while the black race was divine. He went so far as to say that black people were gods because they are black” This, of course, would mean that Fard himself was a “white” devil. ………..

Do you remember the incident where Noah got drunk? Well, what was never mentioned in the Bible was that Noah's one man party happened before the ark was fully unloaded. He staggered back on it and before his family could stop him he took off weaving his way across the ocean and crashed on the Australian continent. Keep in mind the whole time he was naked wearing only a party hat he had fashioned out of some leaves. In a rage he kicked all the remaining animals off his ark and weaved his way back to where he came from. When they asked him what he had done with all the other animals his head was throbbing and he couldn't remember a thing.

You certainly have been a hard worker Lisavegas. I have a couple of questions. Have you lived mostly in the same place or all over? And how did the Watchtower fit into all of this?

Just watched "Knocking" last nite
by LennyinBluemont inwell, i felt it would be inappropriate to write a letter to pbs complaining about their airing of this documentary, "knocking", without having seen it myself, so i ordered a copy at the exorbitant cost of about $36, and it took over a month for it to arrive.
i agree with gary buss, that it is very polished and well-done.
a few quick reactions:.

I subscribe to PBS station. Maybe I should consider withholding my support. I would need to make sure the station I subscribe to has run the show or will run it and let them know the reason I'm not donating this time. Just a thought.

damn, how depressing for you to have to go back after all that time
. Yep, I view going to the KH like eating sushi. Once every 25 years is plenty for me. I wouldn't have gone there for any other reason.

It does sound vaguely rude!! In any other context you might have been offended!
I'm sure he did intend the double meaning. Both him and his brother worked with my wife for years and can get away with saying anything without either us taking offense. In fact we expect it of them.

People living now in the 2000's, are older, grayer, sicker, and discouraged. They want the end to come before they die. Single JWs want to know that they will still have the chance of getting married and having children (a hope the WTS says resurrected people don't have). I know JWs in their 80's and 90's who say, "I wasn't supposed to get this old; I wasn't supposed to die."
Every funeral reminds them that they too may die in this system...not being one of the millions who would never die.
I'm sure the longer you are in the harder it has to be to face the facts and realize you have been duped even though it has to become more obvious with each passing year and as you say funeral.
